Five Ways to Improve Customer Experience & Add Value to Your Business

Improve Customer Experience and Add Value to Your Business

Evolving your business and generating some extra revenue has a lot to do with making your customers happy. It's not just about offering the best deals or having high-quality goods and/or services - people enjoy being pampered, receiving additional information and going through the process of choosing and paying for goods or services as quickly and smoothly as possible. In short, people give a lot of significance to the overall experience of dealing with a business and they will often gravitate to those businesses that they find appealing on a more personal level. That's why some companies develop huge fan bases and have loyal customers that come back for more, while others struggle to make ends meet. Here are some good ways you can improve customer experience.

Make sure your staff is positive, patient and polite

These are the three P's of effective customer relations, they form the base of the first and most important rule of dealing with customers - make the person feel comfortable. This rule is often neglected and you can see workers being easily irritated, rude or condescending to customers, slow and lazy or just generally unhelpful. If you have people with smiles on their faces walking around, greeting customers, asking if they need assistance and then actually providing useful information it will make your customers much more comfortable and eager to do business with you in the future.

Reward loyal customers

The people who regularly come back and keep doing business with you should know that their loyalty is appreciated and new customers should be motivated to become regulars. In order to achieve this you can offer coupons and gift vouchers to regulars, offer discounts for those who sign up to your mailing list online and so on. You can have plenty of options when creating a loyalty program so don't be afraid to think outside the box.

Integrate a POS system

Point of sale (POS) systems can help you improve customer experience in several ways:

They make retail store transactions quick and easy

They give you added functionality like managing bar tabs, splitting bills, accepting gift vouchers, etc.

They allow restaurant owners to monitor the status of the tables and ensure that the patrons don't have to wait too long for their orders

With the right equipment and good POS software installed you can optimize the way you do business and significantly reduce the waiting time for your customers. The people are happy that they got served faster and you have better customer turnover - everybody wins.

Get some feedback and don't afraid of making changes

Engage your customers frequently and ask them questions about their shopping habits and the overall experience. You can have a survey on your website (offer some type of reward for completing the survey), read the comments on your Facebook page, conduct short interviews on location or simply put up a suggestion box. Knowing what the customers want is important if you want to affect the way they perceive your business.

Offer useful information on your website and stay active on social media

Most people don't really have the time or just can't be bothered to drive around town to get the information they need. What everyone usually does is go online and to do a bit of research before actually going out and doing business with someone. This is why you should have a well-designed website that is easy to navigate (everything a person needs should be no more than 2-3 clicks away) and is full of useful information about your business: what you do, what you don't do, special offers, items you have in stock, upcoming sales, working hours, a map showing your location, contact information, the ability to make reservations and so on. Being active on social media also helps spread the word and get the latest news about your business to your loyal customers.

If you really want to add some value to your business, create a bit of brand awareness and increase the number of customers that walk through your door, then follow these simple guidelines and always strive to create a welcoming atmosphere and a positive overall experience for your customers.
